Myrup

The landscapes of Wyoming and Utah as they change with the seasons are often found in the realistic oil paintings of John Myrup. His work reflects a lifetime of experience and observation of the Western landscape. Born in Slat Lake City, Utah, in 1945, John graduated with a degree in Environmental Biology from the University of Utah. Born to a family of artists, John began painting at the age of 13.

In 1971, he exhibited in his first public showing at the Park City Art Festival. By 1973 John was painting full time.

Myrup prefers to not paint outdoors. Instead he likes to visit a specific environmental area with his camera, capture the physical image on film, and try and hold the emotional effect in his mind.

John's oil paintings are in collections throughout the United States and Canada.  He is well recognized for his amazing ability to paint realism through his mastery of a very fine tipped brush.
